SUMMARY

The Patient Services Specialist performs all functions related to the registration of patients as required at facility by coordinating the completion of registration forms, entering of information into the appropriate database and scheduling and all site specific special services or programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Initiates and completes the patient registration process for all incoming patients. Distributes and explains forms to patients, and assembles charts accordingly. Enters all information and/or updates demographics and insurance information into the information systems.

  • Obtains information pertaining to insurance, identification, and referrals. Ensures all required signatures are present, dated and the patient sign-in log is complete.

  • Confirms all charges and payment for services provided are posted during his/her shift. Reconciles all charges and payments listed on the super bill to the charges and payments posted onto the information system. Ensures all money received is properly recorded and accounted for at the end of his/her shift.

  • Arranges patient payments based upon financial needs.

  • Confirms that the Charge Review work queues or other assigned work queues are processed daily.

    Education and/or Experience

    High School diploma or equivalent required. One year experience required.

    Previous office or hospital/clinic experience preferred.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
