Sr Business Analyst

Sr Business Analyst - OPE000578

Responsible for leading significant business analysis efforts and improving the overall impact of requirements in support of critical enterprise projects and programs. Responsible for working with key business and IT stakeholders to analyze business needs and document/manage requirements for large, complex, enterprise projects or programs. Serve as a senior-level requirements liaison between business leaders and technology to support the delivery of business and technology capabilities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop scope for Enterprise Projects.
  • Elicit, analyze and document business requirements and business rules advising business on priorities, options, risks and costs versus benefits of various solutions.
  • Identify and document the needs of customers, frontline associates and key business partners,
  • Identify, document and update business processes, including identifying impacts to policies, procedures and controls.
  • Assist with the analysis of impacts of proposed technology solutions on existing business and operational processes.
  • Provide input to buy vs. build decisions based on input received from the business and other functions within technology.
  • Conduct research to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within or outside the business, and if not, whether new solutions are feasible.
  • Provide input to the development of formal business cases, when applicable.
  • Provide input to resource needs at the project- or program-level to identify key / required skills.

Project Delivery Responsibilities
  • Elicit, analyze and document requirements for any new and/or changes to business processes or technology applications.
  • Elicit requirements using appropriate facilitation techniques, including interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Develop and manage business scenarios / use cases to explain and demonstrate business requirements specifications to business stakeholders and the technology team.
  • Review functional design and test deliverables to ensure that they meet the requirements.
  • Develop and manage the requirements traceability process from requirements through to testing with appropriate gap analysis to ensure requirements meet the needs of the business through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Assist User Acceptance Test (UAT) teams to ensure that requirements documentation can be easily translated into test plans, ensure that the proper testing plans have been reviewed and meet the business and technology testing needs.
  • Provide relevant test scenarios for the UAT/testing team; partner with test team to develop system integration test scripts and ensure all testing plans and results correspond to the business expectations.
  • Facilitate implementation of new functionality through training sessions, demos, and the development of appropriate documentation.
  • Provide high-level business process and technical overviews and insight where appropriate.
  • Identify and communicate risks to delivering solution on time.
  • Provide input to resource needs at the project- or program-level to identify key / required skills.
  • Lead, elicit and recommend significant business analysis process improvement initiatives.
  • May be required to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Business Partnership Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary contact between key business leaders/ stakeholders and technology to ensure requirements are delivered on time and in a comprehensive, quality manner to meet the needs of the project or program to deliver business capabilities.
  • Establish strong working relationships with business partners, technology team members, functional counterparts, and related vendors.
  • Maintain continuity between business team and IS organization throughout complete system development life cycle (SDLC).

Individual and Team Accountabilities
  • Manage individual workload and deliver to agreed upon project milestones.
  • Actively suggest and lead process improvement initiatives to improve delivery of high quality requirements to meet business objectives.
  • Proactively promote, implement and manage consistent performance metrics to measure the impact of the requirements discipline to support corporate initiatives.
  • Lead and collaborate in a team environment and help resolve business analysis issues.
  • Provide mentoring for less senior BAs on Business Analysis discipline, processes, and techniques as required.


  • 7+ years experience required in a Business or Systems Analysis role in a large enterprise environment.
  • Masters (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience required
  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Business Analyst certification a plus.
  • Strong analysis, verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and confidently with business and technology stakeholders, team members and management.
  • Experience with business process reengineering and business modeling concepts, tools and techniques.
  • Process-driven analysis skills and a background in various requirements elicitation methods.
  • Experience with Use Case and scenario-based process documentation techniques.
  • Proficiency with requirements based on a waterfall project delivery methodology. Agile requirements experience a definite plus.
  • Experience with wireless or telecom industry is highly desirable.
