Sr Director Technology Operations

Sr Director Technology Operations - INF001190

As a member of the senior IT Leadership team at U.S. Cellular® the Senior Director Technology Operations has full leadership responsibility for 24x7 operations for U.S. Cellular mission critical systems. This responsibility includes managing internal teams of 70-75 associates combined with a global vendor network of roughly 300-400 resources, in addition to a $50M annual budget spanning internal teams and large scale vendor contracts. Must establish, manage and ensure SLAs/KPIs are met or exceeded, create and achieve operational best practices, and lead cross-functional teams through technology transformation in a rapidly evolving market and platform.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direction and oversight to third-party global operations teams consistent with the governance model to ensure service delivery excellence
  • Build teams demonstrating an innovation and transformation oriented mindset, assuring sustainable industry leading operational results
  • Maintain regulatory compliance inclusive of PCI, SOX, CPNI and SOX requirements, with accuracy sufficient to support audit processes
  • Responsible for production system reporting, including SLAs and KPIs with potential contractual implications
  • Coach and develop leaders with a culture of accountability and results orientation
  • Build collaborative relationships with business partners in support of revenue creation opportunities and stablebusiness operations
  • Support negotiation of managed services contracts, including identifying key operational priorities and providing recommendations for SLAs, KPIs and operational terms
  • Manage internal and vendor expenses, and drive cost savings / efficiency improvements
  • Actively engage in production issues / incidents as necessary to support high availability of existing and new systems
  • Support application development processes as necessary, including by providing visibility to and prioritization of operation defects
  • Responsible for production reporting, order fallout operations/management, billing operations and provisioning and mediation development
  • Technical Functions Include:
    • Enterprise pricing and promotion, product catalog development
    • Billing and Print and Mail
    • eCommerce/WEB/Mobile App
    • CIM/RIM/OMS application mangement
    • IoT
    • Provisioning and Mediation
    • Order Processing
    • Retail and Customer Care point of sale and CRM systems
    • A/R, journaling and revenue management systems
    • Prepaid and B2B systems
    • Defect Management
    • Tier 2-4 technology support


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent required, and MBA preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in 24x7 complex technology operations and billing / revenue related application management
  • Expertise managing third parties in the delivery of managed services , inclusive of definition and management of SLAs / KPIs, managing multi-vendor and multi-location (including international) teams, and ensuring consistent operational results at industry leading levels
  • Wireless industry knowledge and expertise is required
  • Proven ability to create strong business partnerships initiating and delivering enterprise-transformative initiatives
  • Experience in all aspects of SDLC
  • Strong project and team management skills; e.g. planning, budgetary control and people management and related disciplines
