Sr Data Warehouse Architect

Sr Data Warehouse Architect - INF001148

The Data Warehouse Architect will design a high performing Enterprise Data Warehouse, using both traditional Kimball & Inmom methodologies along with actively participating in enhancing the EDW by utilizing a multi-platform, modern architecture approach. The architect will collaborate with the stakeholders and build solutions that support their reporting, analytics, data exploration and data science needs. This role will actively participate in process improvement initiatives and in setting best practice standards around Data Architecture, Metadata, Governance, Masterdata Management, Federation and Data Quality flows.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise in the creation and refinement of agile technical stories for data architecture and development
  • Work within the organization to design data-driven solutions that focus on stakeholders needs:
    • Lead the translation of business needs into feasible and acceptable data-centric semantic layer designs
    • Document and present relationships between business entities using Kimball, Inmom and other modern frameworks
    • Participate in discussions to prioritize and balance technical and business needs of the conceptual and logical data warehouse
  • Design physical data models, Data Warehouse Design:
    • Design and document 3NF integration layer (normalized) and create dimensional presentation layer (de-normalized) of the data warehouse
    • Enhance existing models to ensure compliance with best practices around master data management and a 3 layer architecture across technology platforms
    • Design, develop, document and articulate architecture of the enterprise data warehouse
  • Evaluate reusability of current solutions for additional analysis, while maintaining integrity and confidentiality of information in accordance with minimum viable product
  • Lead discussions to document database standards and procedures for the definition of reference architecture
  • Comfortable defining Master Data Management solutions architecture and setting technical direction and defining component architecture


Experience and Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or specialized training or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of recent Data Warehouse Architecture experience to build and articulate conceptual, logical and physical dimensional data models and third normal form artifacts
  • Expert in using standard modeling tools like Erwin, ERStudio
  • Experience in delivering solutions using Agile (traditional and SAFe) and supporting tools like Jira or Remedy
  • Knowledge of database performance facts, monitoring tools and tuning procedures
  • Experience with architecting solutions across platforms and using multiple data layers presented in a federated schematic layer
  • An understanding of Big Data technologies and modern data architectures like Spark and NoSQL structures
  • Experience with the following databases: Oracle & Exadata and a solid understanding of Hive, HBase and Spark
