SUMMARY

The Faculty Instructor teaches and supervises medical residents in both the inpatient and outpatient settings; helps develop and implement curriculum in accordance with the requirements of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME); serves as a mentor and role model to residents throughout their training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and presents lectures, workshops, and seminars that provide residents with core content material needed to satisfy ACGME curricular requirements.
  • Directs, supervises, precepts and assists residents and medical students in the inpatient/outpatient setting in taking histories, performing physical exams, developing treatment plans, and providing medical care, disciplining as needed. Accepts assignment of residents as advisees and in that role monitors resident progress, helps plan individual curriculum, and ensures that files are kept up to date.
  • Reviews resident charts for both quality and timely completion, communicating deficiencies to residents and their advisors.
  • Adheres to appropriate Medicare and Medicaid requirements for documentation in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Serves as a mentor and role model to residents by caring for his/her own panel of patients and delivering high quality, patient-centered care.

    Education and/or Experience

    MD or DO degree required.

    Minimum one year of experience preferred.

    Computer Skills

    Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

    Valid Illinois Medical License; Certification by the American Board of Family Practice
