Direct Support Person (DSP)

OVERVIEW: The mission of our Residential Services Department is to provide housing and living services to the disadvantaged and developmentally disabled. Our Residential Homes or Intermediate Care Facilities can house up to 15 individuals and CILA's or Community Integrated Living Facilities can house between 6-8 residents. Both options offer safe, small group environments where residents can learn the necessary life skills such as money management and personal care under the guidance of trained 24-hour staff. Included in these programs are pre-vocational and vocational and employment training that further strengthen their life skills and assist in enabling to live as independently as possible.
We currently have an opportunity available for a Direct Support Person (DSP) with the Residential Services Department under the division of Employment Community Support Services. This position will be located at either one of 8 CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) locations or at one of our five Intermediate Care Facilities/Residential Homes.

Under supervision of the CILA Team Leader or Resident Services Director (RSD) this position organizes and provides support and leadership for the residents in all active treatment programs.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Teach all of the specific skills required in active treatment plans.
  • Observe functioning or residents and record responses in the progress notes.
  • Increase professional knowledge by such activities as participation in staff training.
  • Utilize skills of outside resources in the development of residents' active treatment plans.
  • Write progress reports on each resident's active treatment program daily.
  • Completemidnightcensus reports and bed check log daily.
  • Provide supervision to small groups of residents to develop housekeeping skills.
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. This position also requires successful completion of the certified Habilitation Aide Training Program within 6 months. Valid driver's license is required, and providing of a motor vehicle report acceptable to the Agency's insurance broker.
Experience:The ideal candidats will demonstrates the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicate cultural sensitivity to the client population served.
