Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

OVERVIEW:We currently have an opportunity available for a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with our Employment and Community Support Services division. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing a continuum of rehabilitation services to disable individuals designed to assist in the accomplishment of vocational goals.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Provides direct rehabilitation servies for assigned client caseload.
  • Provides systematic counseling focusing on the realities of real world life skills to assist developing the client's social, emotional and intellectual capacites to meet the demands of employment.
  • Utilizes medical, psychological and vocational evaluation and other pertinent modes to use as tools in development of a formal vocational rehabilitation program.
  • Assigns clients to appropriate work and training activities, observes client performance and behavior and monitors progress towards goals.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:This position requires the incumbent to have a Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling, psychology or social work.
Experience:Minimum of at least one year of experience working with a developmentally disabled client population. The incumbent must demonstrate the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicate cultural sensitivity to the client population served.
  • Must have the ability to partner with clients individually in family, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.
  • Must be able to coordinate effectively with other team members, other agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
