Direct Portfolio Management

The Intelligent Edge Solutions (IES) division of Zebra Technologies' Enterprise Visibility & Mobility business is responsible for identifying and developing industry leading solutions used for mission critical vertical market applications, as an integral part of our Enterprise Asset Intelligence (EAI) strategy.

As part of the Portfolio Management team for IES, our objective is to define and operationalize our EAI vision, working closely with core business units across Zebra to prioritize and deliver our solutions portfolio.   Solutions that leverage the “edge data” visibility enabled via hardware, software and services from across Zebra’s product and service portfolios and from key partnerships is the primary differentiator for Zebra. 

The Portfolio Management team is looking for a senior portfolio management leader with 20+ years of industry experience who be responsible for determining Zebra’s solution portfolio investment strategy and prioritizing across competing opportunities to maximizes long-term portfolio value, while ensuring near/long term commitments to Zebra’s EAI strategy are delivered.

Responsibilities

Scope and Responsibilities:

Intelligent Edge Solutions (IES) Portfolio Management is globally responsible for spearheading and driving the strategy creation and investment with the goal of providing a compelling vision to the Zebra organization, customers and shareholders.  The portfolio management lead will also focus on a competitively differentiated portfolio view that ensures all projects have solid business case and align to growth needs.  The portfolio management lead will be responsible for coordinating the process and framework that generates our portfolio planning outputs and deliverables within the IES team to ensure alignment across Zebra BUs and Regions and helps communicate our roadmap and strategy easily and consistently.  This includes the process and support for identifying and validating new expansion targets that will create new value for Zebra. 

This position reports directly to the Portfolio and Strategy Leader for IES.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to overall solutions portfolio management strategy and prioritization process. Understands the larger business context and overall strategic objectives of the organization. Works to define cross-functional priorities that align.
  • Leads the solution portfolio yearly planning process outputs in collaboration with the IES solutions managers and other cross-functional stakeholders to generate the approved fiscal prioritized investment plan.
  • Leads innovation by supporting the Solution Management team and contributing Product Managers, providing direction, coaching and support to ensure successful definition and execution of segment solution strategies.
  • Recommends and oversees execution of segment strategies within the Zebra solution portfolio, using comprehensive knowledge of market, competitive landscape, customer requirements, distribution channels and Zebra offerings.
  • Anticipates market and customer requirements for related BU product lines and portfolios. Supports and coordinates solution-related VOC and competitive landscape activities, and beta planning. Monitors target markets and identifies opportunities for innovation.
  • May manage early-stage solutions directly, working collaboratively with other functional leaders to develop and align on business objectives. Manages development of documentation of solution requirements. Owns development and presentation of business case by completing supportive research.  Fully accountable for Solution Development Framework inputs and corresponding business plan.
  • Owns product lifecycle management for solution portfolio of moderate to high complexity, developing and driving end of life plans and execution of inventory objectives. Demonstrates full knowledge of development process. Responsible for developing a 3-5 year roadmap.
  • Supports solution pricing strategy and product price to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Monitors financial performance of product lines and makes recommendations for pricing action against revenue and margin objectives. Models target solution/product costs for new solutions.
  • Has overall responsibility of portfolio planning and recommending and implementing changes to business processes to improve execution.
  • Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Preferred Education: Master’s degree / MBA

Preferred Work Experience (years): 20 or more years experience including minimum 5 years management experience
