SUMMARY

The Inventory Specialist performs duties associated with managing inventory, receiving, sorting, stocking, shipping and distributing supplies within the Medical Center. Provides guidance on supply acquisitions for new clinical programs, working directly with the physicians and the department Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitors inventory usage and supply levels to maintain par levels within the system. Makes necessary stocking level adjustments and complete orders as appropriate. Tracks inventory usage in conjunction with the clinical leaders to ensure the availability of products needed.

  • Responds to inventory and equipment recalls and pull stock or equipment from service and process to return to vendor and may process replacement order for inventory or equipment. Researches and identifies inventory or equipment for replacement. Notifies leader and staff of product recall.

  • Contacts or meets with sales representatives from different vendors regarding invoicing or shipping problems. Assists staff with execution of product recall processes and procedures and ensures appropriate credits are received from the vendor.

  • Verifies the receipt of items recorded as received by the Receiving Department and follows-up on any discrepancies.

  • Educates leadership on the system and process on the computerized ordering of inventory. Monitors all orders placed for accuracy. Assists end users in completion of appropriate add sheets and other documentation needed for supply items.

    Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum two years of Materials Management experience required.

    College coursework with business concentration preferred.

    Computer Skills

    Should have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software, understand office, bookkeeping, laboratory, maintenance, or computer processes and be able to develop simple procedures with general instruction.
