SUMMARY

The Security Dispatcher provides a variety of Security Dispatch Center duties critical to the security communications and surveillance functions such as monitoring multiple alarm systems, surveillance systems and access control systems, answering telephone calls for assistance, maintaining two way radio communications with security staff, documenting all calls for assistance, processing identification badges, documenting and processing Lost & Found items.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitors the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera system, fire alarm system, infant abduction systems, access control system, various alarms, on a continual basis, identifying potential hazards and/or problems. Communicates all pertinent information to the security officers via two-way radio so the officers can respond to situations appropriately.
  • Documents security activities, calls for assistance, and dispatched calls on appropriate forms and logs (i.e., Daily Dispatcher Log, Security Logs). Ensures that all associated documents (i.e., Incident Reports, Alarm System Reports, Parking Citations) are completed and submitted to manager for review by following-up with appropriate individuals on missing information.
  • Prepares the Daily Activity Summary/Shift Report at the end of each shift by gathering summaries of key activities of the shift and submitting the completed report to the sergeant or Officer in Charge (OIC) for oncoming shift briefing .
  • Issues and maintains inventory of all general duty equipment such as radios and keys by ensuring that the radios and keys are accounted for at all times. Monitors inventory and stock of general office supplies and items such as report forms, Identification (ID) badge processing, printer, copier ribbons and toner, parking citations, and parking decals. Identifies low levels of supplies and prepare purchase orders for Manager's approval.
  • Processes ID badges for employees, physicians, volunteers, vendors/contractors and students and programs authorized access to ID badges based on information received from Manager or Human Resources. Ensures all information and programmed access is correct before providing badge to appropriate individuals. Maintains ID badge database by activating, deactivating and deleting ID users as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum one year of experience in healthcare security or security communications.


    Computer Skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).


    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and IS 200 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Certification must be obtained within 180 days of employment.
