SUMMARY

The Coordinator, Clinical Information Systems - Registered Nurse plans, tests, trains, implements and maintains all department information systems for a specific facility, corporate defined business unit or product line. Assists with accomplishing the goals and objectives of the organization with a thorough understanding of application software and its interrelationship with delivery of health services. Serves as liaison between specific departments, Information Services and specific vendors to coordinate day-to-day requirements of system support; while planning for future system requirements and improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitates decentralized clinical decision making to the clinical caregivers, involving staff from all service areas to aid in problem solving with computer issues.

Maintains and updates the nursing scheduling database including the education of management and staff on the use.

Assists in the planning and development of nursing automated systems in defining the desired outcomes, benefits and required activities/support for implementation. Works closely with Information Systems to further define projects, prepare for system upgrades and further integration of computer system. Recommends specific project development with the systems staff.

Analyzes and defines current and potential organizational and nursing clinical system needs with recommendations.

Provides information and support to assigned staff and serves as a resource.

Supports autonomy and accountability of designated computer trainers.

Identifies clinical areas and system training needs and coordinate training internally. Trains key personnel to use programs and systems.

Reviews and evaluates programs, system goals and coordinates with appropriate personnel to modify when necessary. Identifies solutions to address post-installation issues. Develops and implements ongoing strategies to review computer programs and systems.

Education and/or Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Minimum four years of experience in a health care setting with demonstrated system implementation experience required.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Computer Skills

Demonstrates clinical expertise in all areas of computerization and evaluates the effectiveness of computer programs in regards to positive patient outcomes.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Registered Nurse with current Illinois License required.
