Partnership Marketing Manager

The Partnership Marketing Manager contributes to the success of the Chicago Zoological Society by contributing to the Society's financial sustainability through support of revenue-generating marketing programs including sponsorships, hotel partnership sales, ticket promotions, group sales, etc. This position facilitates the management of partnership contract fulfillment through effective organization, communication, and partner and staff relations. This position extends the marketing visibility of the Society through cross-promotional partnerships with organizations such as sports teams and malls.

The successful candidate will:
  • Serve as a key member of the Partnership Marketing team by supporting the generation of revenue. Manage and steward the fulfillment process for sponsorship agreements including contract processing and invoicing, logistical coordination, collaboration with internal constituents and departments to ensure timely delivery of sponsor benefits, and facilitate day-to-day partner communications.
  • Lead, manage, and execute the marketing, sales, and fulfillment of programmatic revenue-generating initiatives including, but not limited to: hotel partnership sales, group sales, and ticket promotions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Marketing and Creative Services departments to establish and manage sponsorship standards and ensure appropriate partner recognition. Oversee the development and production of designated partner inclusion and ensure fulfillment of partner logos and information on all materials, e.g., advertising, website, social media, Gateways, in-park marketing, brochures, etc. Prepare sponsorship proof of performance and fulfillment reports.
  • Schedule, supervise, and mentor Marketing seasonal staff member(s) to support Partnership Marketing efforts for group sales, hotel partnership program, etc.
  • Serve as the key representative on assigned accounts. Responsibilities may include developing sales pitches and pricing, delivering sales presentations, and negotiating benefits.
  • Assist in researching and prospecting new business to help fill the sales pipeline.
  • Work in collaboration with the events team to ensure positive sponsor engagements during on-site activations and events. Serve as the point of contact for designated volunteer activations with corporate partners.
  • Secure cross-promotional marketing partnerships such as sports, malls, attractions, etc. to extend marketing reach. Identify and pursue potential cross-promotional partners and manage relationships. Negotiate, prepare, and fulfill contracts to ensure timely execution as well as measurement of benefits and results. Facilitate internal communications to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations. Responsible for recap reports.
  • Prepare weekly sales reports and other related duties as assigned.


Position Requirements and Specifications
The requirements include the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field required.
  • Three years of relevant marketing experience or other directly relevant experience required; the marketing experience can include a period of marketing internship experience.
  • Proven ability to be proactive with respect to institutional evaluation needs and activities.
  • Ability to deal with emergent issues, multiple projects, and clients simultaneously required.
  • Track record of adhering to critical timelines/key date schedules required.
  • Strong communications (verbal, written, and listening) and writing skills required.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain strong rapport and positive internal and external relationships and effectively nurture partner relationships.
  • Strong computer skills required. Experience with a variety of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, amiable personality. Ability to interact effectively and maintain and grow positive relationships.
  • Must be strategic in orientation, proactive, persistent, and helpful.
  • Ability to effectively deal with multiple issues, projects and clients simultaneously.
  • Solid analytical and proven decision-making skills required.
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible, and confident, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.
  • A valid driver's license is required on date of hire. If an Illinois resident, must possess a valid Illinois driver's license at the time of hire or must obtain one within 90 days of hire. A valid out-of-state driver's license is required at time of hire for out-of-state residents.
The desirable qualifications:
  • Experience in sponsorship research, cultivation, fulfillment, and/or sales a plus.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with national and local corporations a plus.
  • Customer relationship database management skills a plus.
  • Multilingual ability and/or Spanish fluency a plus.
A dditional Information: This is a visible position, interacting with various departments as well as the entire range of external constituencies. Incumbent is required to gain an intimate understanding of the organization, its mission, vision, values, and operating philosophies, and how marketing activities impact the operation and success of the organization. Incumbent must enjoy a challenge, be passionate about his/her work, and have a commitment to excellence. Normal work weeks of 40+ hours are not unusual.
