Shipping and Receiving Assistant Supervisor

Shipping and Receiving Assistant Supervisor 1st Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Provides on-the-job leadership and task supervision of assigned employees in a department or area of the plant. Acts in a capacity to extend the supervisory abilities of the immediate reporting supervisor in charge of the overall area. Assure that all aspects of job performance are geared for Food Safety and Quality that meets and exceeds regulatory, industry, customer and BRC standards.

MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assigns employees to work stations and assigns individual tasks to employees where required.
  • Trains employees, checks their work and corrects improper performance of tasks.
  • Assists the Functional Area Supervisor or Manager with the responsibility of meeting safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Trains and monitors employees in compliance with GMPs and Safety
  • Evaluate new hires during their probationary/evaluation period and recommend retention or termination.
  • Recommends discipline where necessary.
  • Assists Functional Area Supervisor or Manager in in evaluating applicants for employment in assigned department.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for safety and functional operation.
  • Reports malfunction to immediate supervisor or maintenance department.
  • Supervises loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications
  • Assists with the set-up, adjustments, and inspection of material handling equipment.
  • May locate supplies, check code dates and perform similar tasks to optimize scheduled production runs or incoming/outgoing shipments.
  • Diagnoses production problems that occur in a variety of areas including quality, line supply, shipping, receiving and initiate corrective action.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to employees to ensure compliance with company specified rules and regulations regarding employee practices, worker safety, food safety, security and general behavior requirements.
  • Trains shipping/receiving personnel in HACCP and the 7 HACCP principles as part of daily operations.
  • Completes reports, enters purchase order receipts and outbound shipments in SAP as required.
  • Ensures work area is kept clean and sanitary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Required Skills:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Some high school or equivalent experience
  • Basic computer competency
  • Stand-up forklift experience required.
  • 1 year of on the job experience with demonstrated understanding of process flow, quality, efficiency, safety and organizational requirements in the department assigned.
