SUMMARY
The Speech Language Pathologist I identifies the speech, language or motor/swallowing disorder of the assigned patients, and assures this data is communicated and reported. Completes patient initial assessment and other appropriate evaluations accurately and thoroughly while being audited by random observation or performance improvement monitoring. Evaluates and treats patients using the principles and practices of speech-language pathology and in accordance with the patient's age, developmental level and diagnosis. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. Patient and family education is an integral part of the service offered.

Counsels patients' family members/significant others to ensure understanding of speech, language and swallowing impairment(s) and treatment

Education and/or Experience
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution required.
Experience as speech therapist in health care setting preferred.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certification of Clinical Competence from ASHA, or eligibility for certification required. If not certified upon hire, must meet eligibility requirements for the prerequisite Clinical Fellowship Year "CFY" within the nine month period allowed. Current Illinois license or eligibility for licensure required. CPR Certification required.
