As a Supervisor - Motor Tram Tours (Motor Safari), you will provide the highest level of quality customer service while representing Chicago Zoological Society in a professional manner through the safe and conscientious operation of the Carousel, Motor Safari trams, and Snowball Express buses transporting guests on designated routes throughout the park including through large crowds. You will also be responsible for supervising and training seasonal adventure guides on required Motor Safari duties (including safely driving) ensuring the seasonal crew follows all established procedures. Your friendly demeanor, good communication skills, and superior customer service will contribute positively while you convey extensive park narratives and engage guests. You will also provide assistance and directions to guests, including effectively resolving guest complaints and escalating as appropriate. As the Supervisor, you will interact positively with guests and crew and maintain a positive, friendly, and professional image at all times; follow and enforce all applicable institutional policies, procedures and departmental protocols; develop, learn, and deliver narrated tour materials and special event information as directed; assist in developing schedules and assignments of operations for trams, hayride (when in season), and Carousel; assure a clean, neat appearance of self, seasonal adventure guides, vehicles, tram areas, and Carousel at all times (including washing and cleaning of vehicles and Carousel when necessary); assist management with seasonal adventure guide performance evaluations and checklists; and, act as manager-on-duty in the absence of full-time managers. All of these activities are extremely important in maintaining a high-quality experience for our over 2 million guests each year.

Position Requirements and Specifications
Due to the driving requirement, a valid driver's license is required and you must be at least 18 years of age for this position.

The requirements for this position include:

• High School graduate or (GED) equivalent preferred.
• Accurate, basic math and reading skills required.
• Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve guest and employee-related issues.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks required.
• Ability to work with little supervision required.
• Must be outgoing, positive, and personable. Theatrical experience preferred.
• Ability to speak clearly and articulately and communicate well with the public required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be flexible and patient.
• Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience. Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.
• Valid driver's license required. Illinois residents must possess a valid Illinois license within 90 days of hire. Valid out-of-state license required for out-of-state residents. Good driving record required.
• One or more of the following licensures may be required: Valid "C" or "B" (CDL) Driver's License.
• Valid medical authorization card required for positions that are responsible for the operation of Commercial Motor Vehicles.
• Prior driving experience transporting people required.
• Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Additional Information
Prior driving experience transporting people is required. Relevant types of experience include, but are not limited to: school bus driver, shuttle driver, tour bus driver, tram driver, chauffeur, etc. Although not required, theatrical or public speaking experience a plus.
