Position Description

The Patient Care Provider (PCP), working under the supervision of a licensed nurse, performs direct patient care and routine functions on an assigned group of patients. The PCP works toward the improvement of care and quality of life for patients.

Essential Functions and Duties
  • Performs all ADL functions, including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, toileting, application of splints, orthoses, prostheses and any adaptive equipment.
  • Performs wheelchair, bed, toilet and cart transfers, using appropriate and safe techniques.
  • Answers call lights in a timely manner regardless of assignment to ensure safety and proper customer service of the patient.
  • Assists in serving, feeding, and monitoring meals. Assists with feeding group as assigned. Performs calorie counts as needed.
  • Makes frequent rounds on assigned patients to provide necessary care and maintain safety.
  • Conducts oneself in a manner, which promotes positive relations with patients, families and visitors while interacting in an appropriate manner with compassion and acceptance of language and cultural diversity.
  • Communicate with other departments as needed to accommodate requests
  • Effectively, and efficiently communicate via phone, email, and text
  • Establish relationships with Specialists to make sure they know they are a valued part of the team
  • Provide feedback and praise to specialists as necessary

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One-year clinical experience.
  • Illinois State Nurses Assistant Certification.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support: Health Care Providers, Level C.
