SUMMARY

The primary role of the Lead Patient Care Informatics Specialist is to be a designated liaison to nursing, physicians, other patient care areas and information services. The Lead Patient Care Informatics Specialist will fulfill multiple roles throughout the development, implementation, management, and on-going support of PHC comprehensive clinical information system.

Key duties include analyzing complex clinical operations and structure processes to facilitate decision making regarding clinical systems; utilizing the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer applications; and ensuring information systems are consistent with professional standards of practice.

The Lead Patient Care Informatics Specialist will provide leadership and direction toward accomplishing the goals and objectives of the organization and ensures communication to all levels of the organization

Individuals in this position will be responsible for facilitating change management to ensure system adoption and optimization for clinical applications, participating in Clinical advisory teams and interacting with Physician Champions.

Individuals in this position are responsible for adhering to and supporting the standards, procedures, policies, protocols and objectives supplied by Presence Health Care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains expert knowledge of assigned clinical and Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications.
  • Is an expert in clinical workflow processes and can translate those process requirements into the EHR build. Facilitates and documents work flow changes and improvements.
  • Drives consensus across PHC sites and key stakeholders to perform analysis, design, development/build and maintenance of assigned clinical and EHR applications during implementation and upgrades.
  • Configures vendor applications and products to meet PHC standards of care, work flow and quality of care, business reporting needs.
  • Works closely with clinicians to develop order sets, alerts, flowsheets, templates and reference tables will support the delivery of quality patient care.


Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Bachelors equivalent degree in area of expertise (such as RN for nursing, etc.). Also, could be in computer Science, Healthcare Science or equivalent experience in clinical informatics.
  • Five years of experience in area of expertise. At least two years of experience in Clinical Informatics.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Prefer that incumbent has certification/license in area of clinical expertise (such as nursing, pharmacy, etc.) Employee must achieve Epic certification on designated EHR modules within 90 days of attending vendor training. Employee must also maintain certification in defined areas with every upgrade to retain position
