SUMMARY - Neurology Tech I - EEG Dept. - Registry / PRN schedule - Presence St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee

The Neurology Technician I is responsible for performing all neurodiagnostic tests, Electroencephalogram (EEG), Nerve Conduction Velocity (NVC), Evoked Potential studies, and Long Term EEG monitoring as ordered to provide information to interpreting MD. Establishes efficiency in scheduling and coordination of diagnostic testing. Ensures all test are performed according to established quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Calibrates equipment and performs quality control checks.

Obtains relevant patient medical history and ensures patient charges and/or credits are entered into the CCS system. Provides patient instructions regarding procedure.

Applies and removes electrodes, and Holter recorders, and other non-invasive stimulation devices. Generates accurate reports and clinical event data.

Completes and verifies documentation. Activates devices and records while observing, monitoring, and documenting patient responses. Measures and calculates muscle and nerve responses.

Makes adjustments to minimize artifact and identify significant abnormalities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED required. One to two years' clinical experience in neurodiagnostics required.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Registration by American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologist (ABRET) preferred. CPR certification required.
