General Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Program Officer (SPO) leads a team of direct reports (3), technical advisors (4) and four sub-awardees to deliver eight required DOL performance benchmarks.  The SPO is the catalyst to day-to-day operational performance; interacting internally and externally to build an environment that is collaborative and delivers on-time performance.

Direct service delivery is through a network of four sub-awardees located in three states: Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri. The Midwest Reentry and Employment Network (MREN) support team analyzes all monthly reports to ensure compliance with program requirements and quickly identify areas where TTA may be necessary. The Team conducts quarterly interviews of sub-awardees on all aspects of program implementation to continually update and implement TTA needs. The MREN Team also hosts monthly /quarterly training webinars and apportion staff time across partners to provide expert TTA to sub-award sites throughout the duration of the 39-month project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that MREN meets its obligation to the Department of Labor in all aspects of the contract.
  • Work collaboratively with the sub-awardees to ensure that any technical assistance is relevant and timely.
  • Partner with the technical assistance providers to match needs to resources
  • Lead strategic planning to ensure that any underperformance is noted and resolved.
  • Host regularly scheduled performance meetings, quality reviews and annual conference.
  • Develop and report to DOL monthly and quarterly performance.
  • Ensure performance against fiscal plan.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success in meeting funder commitments
  • Ability to work collaboratively internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to work across and sometimes competing deadlines

Education and Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in successful leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Successful supervision
