Systems Engineer

Summary/Objective

The Systems Engineer installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools. The SE ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure functionality, maintains the existing systems and provides technical direction and hands on support for network infrastructure and software integration and implementation. 

Essential Functions

  • Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization to be in line with company guidelines or SOP (standard operating procedure). 
  • Defines organizational and employee technical solutions and functionality with the Director of Technology. 
  • Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools. 
  • Supports the development of customized software and hardware. Performs configuration and preliminary troubleshooting of these systems.
  • Oversees the constant availability of technical resources. 
  • Implements warranty and support activities. 
  • Evaluates the existing systems, as directed by the Director of Technology, and performs the technical tasks to repair and/or install. 
  • Works on software solutions through the study of information needs, system flow, work processes, usage of data, and conferring with users.
  • Records solutions by enhancing the development of documents, flow charts, and layouts, as well as diagrams
  • Collaborates with other professionals to ensure high quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures. 
  • Deals with work process, optimization methods, and risk management tools in the given projects for the successful accomplishments according to the requirements of the stakeholders.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Navision experience a plus
  • Experience maintaining ERP or like systems
  • Network buildout and maintenance
  • Computer science or information technology related degree 

Supervisory Responsibility

This is not a supervisory position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photo copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate & converse, move, transport & position items.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Position Location

This position is based out of our West Suburban Center (Geneva) location.

Some travel is required.
