SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, this position is directly or indirectly responsible for the provision of all clinical pharmacy services; for related education to the pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff; for input to the Director for performance evaluations of pharmacists as related to the provision of clinical pharmacy services; for supervision of drug information services to physicians, other health care professionals, and patients given medication counseling; for drug evaluation review, quality improvement assessments and reports, and data analysis for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and other hospital committees as assigned; for development and coordination of staff education programs and competency assessment of the drug information library and files, and other duties as assigned.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises, sustains, and develops programs for improving clinical pharmacy services provided by clinical pharmacists.
  • Assesses and certifies clinical staff pharmacist competencies related to the pharmaceutical care of patients.
  • Precepts PharmD-candidate students from the University of Illinois (or other programs as negotiated) in clinical clerkship rotations in order to support the provision of high quality pharmacy services.
  • Coordinates and conducts periodic inservice education programs to medical and nursing personnel.

    Education and/or Experience

    Work Experience:
    • Three years experience as a Clinical Coordinator in a hospital setting, reflecting a broad level of exposure to hospital and clinical practice is preferred. Completion of an accredited clinical pharmacy residency is desired. Experience in the application of pharmaceutical knowledge to patient care situations is required. Demonstrated ability to supervise/manage clinical staff effectively.
    • Completion of a Pharm D from an accredited school of pharmacy program. Clinical Pharmacy residency preferred.
      Computer Skills

      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
      Licensure, certification, etc. Registered Pharmacist in the State of Illinois devoid of encumbrances.
