Job Description

SUMMARY
The Senior Adjunctive Therapist as part of the multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive therapeutic activities including the planning of the therapeutic milieu treatment program, and individual and group interventions for patients, according to the principles and practices of adjunctive therapy. Provides leadership for the implementation and documentation of treatment programs. Ensures programs are appropriate for patient's age, mental status and clinical condition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Develops and implements the milieu treatment program. Assists in milieu managements when needed.
  2. Conducts individual and family therapy sessions and education. Documents in the medical record within the prescribed time frame.
  3. Provides therapy in the form of dance movement, art, recreational, individual, substance abuse and group psychotherapy as needed, per licensure, registration and/or certification.
  4. Completes activity/recreational/other assessments.
  5. Contributes to the development and implementation of the master treatment plan in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and participates in treatment staffing and rounds.
  6. Coordinates and documents discharge planning with the multi-disciplinary team, patient, family and resources.
  7. Participates in department quality assurance activities including data collection and presentation of information and findings.
  8. Demonstrates current knowledge and skills, attends hospital in-services and completes competencies successfully.
  9. Supervises students, adjunctive therapists and unlicensed personnel, in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Manager.
  10. Maintains current in area of specialty, mental health code, developmental phases and life cycle issues.

    Education and/or Experience
    Master's degree in Psychology, Recreational Therapy, Counseling, Art Therapy, Substance Abuse or a related field required.

    One year inpatient behavioral health experience preferred.

    Computer Skills
    Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word).

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    CPR certification required. Licensure, registration, and/or certification in area of specialty required.
