We currently have a position for a Technical Writer based at our corporate headquarters in Mount Prospect.
 
The position will be responsible for assisting in the writing of technical training manuals for all new Cummins Allison Branch Service Technicians, Domestic Distributors, Domestic Customers, International Distributors, and Home Office employees.
 
Responsibilities:
•Assist in writing our Technical Service Manuals and learning how to write and photograph for Service Bulletins, Kit Installation Instructions, and Service Manual updates, as required when changes or corrections occur.
•Maintain and archive all source and documentation files related to the project.
•Amend legacy product according to ECNs(Engineering Change Notices).
•Assist other technical writers when necessary.
•Proofread other technical writer's documentation.
•Build rapport with Engineering, Drafting, Service Training, National Field Service, and Worldwide Service.
•Adhere to company's Technical Writing Style Guide.
•Perform other duties as required, including assisting others in department.
 
Requirements:
•BS or Associates Degree in English, writing, communications, or equivalent professional writing experience.
•4+ years of experience in technical writing beyond degree program.
•Must have experience with Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
•Knowledge of publishing software such as Adobe In Design, Adobe Frame Maker, Mad Cap Flare, Corel DRAW,or Solid Works Composer is a plus.
•Experience taking technical photographs and editing digital images is a plus.
•Ability to write about and discuss clearly technology issues.
•Candidate must be well organized and capable of manage several projects simultaneously and provide timely project status reports.
•Knowledge of project management software such as Intuit's Quick Base is a plus.
