SCHAUMBURG BUSINESS ASSOCIATION Events Manager REPORTS TO: President Summary: Reporting directly to the Schaumburg Business Association President, the Events Manager provides the following services to the SBA in a key professional staff position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION Creation, collaboration, planning, development, and implementation of all events and programs. The Events Manager must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines. The Events Manager should have a passion for special event management, provide outstanding communication to members, vendors, event attendees and volunteers, be an enthusiastic professional, and be capable of building strong and positive relationships with members and staff. Oversight and support of ongoing events and programs, including but not limited to budgeting, coordinating with venues, sponsors, and speakers, greeting attendees; invoicing and collections; sending thank you cards; managing social media promotion and keeping detailed records. Implementation from inception to close. Current events which would fall under this position include large scale signature events: Savour: Food and Drink Experience, Ladies Golf Outing, the Golf Classic and the Toast of Schaumburg. Other events include Good Morning Schaumburg's, Leadership Luncheons, Women in Business, Business After Hours, Summit Series, New Member Orientations, Coffee and Contacts, as well as any other event coordinated or sponsored by the SBA not previously mentioned. QUALIFICATIONS -3-5 years' experience with event planning and sponsorship coordination/sales -Strong background in sales, marketing, and promotions with a proven track record in achieving results; with high expectations for quality -Computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, internet, and database software -Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and effective customer service skills -Outgoing, enthusiastic personality that encourages member involvement and vendor cooperation -Strong organizational & multi-tasking capabilities; ability to lead & manage volunteers/ committees -Attention to detail; time and project management skills, ability to meet deadlines with professionalism and accuracy, and high degree of self-motivation -Ability to develop administrative controls and process improvements -Ability to work independently and exercise tact in a nonprofit environment -Enjoys a collaborative work environment NO WALKIN's OR PHONE CALLS PLEASE ABOUT THE SBA The Schaumburg Business Association was formed in 2001 to represent the needs of businesses in Schaumburg, Illinois.
