Director of Operations

Director of Operations

Burke Beverage, Inc., located in McCook, IL is currently looking for a Director of Operations with experience in a distribution/warehouse setting to manage, facilitate and coordinate the Warehouse, Maintenance, Delivery and Safety Departments. This position will also need to develop good working relationships with our suppliers, customers and vendors in order to maintain a quality service focus for the organization. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:            

  • Develop the annual operations plans and budgets for approval
  • Provide an operational perspective and balance to the executive leadership team.
  • Train and manage delivery, warehouse, safety and maintenance team.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance regarding CDL and DOT files ensuring they are complete and up-to-date.
  • Manage the ordering of company fleet vehicles in coordination with finance department.
  • Maintain proper delivery and warehouse staffing levels.
  • Develop and maintain good customer relations and follow-up on complaint calls promptly.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and conduct oneself in a professional manner that is supportive of management.
  • Responsible for overall building maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe and secure work area.
  • Know and obey all laws governing the alcohol industry.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Five years experience managing and supervising warehouse and/or delivery staff required.
  • Knowledge of safety compliance and maintenance standards required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent leadership capabilities and strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex customer relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be results driven and possess strong initiative skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to safely lift and handle up to 55 pound case of product occasionally. 
  • ​Bilingual, Spanish fluency a plus. 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This position requires a highly motivated, highly professional individual to manage staff in a sales intensive environment.   Individual will be required to work evenings and/or weekends as the schedule requires. Typical work hours start as early as 6:00am though could be earlier or later based on business or customer need.  Must have own vehicle to use for business purposes.
