Director – Decision Sciences
United Airlines has an opening for Director – Decision Sciences in Chicago, IL. Ensures that United Airlines' Network Planning team has access to state-of-the-art decision science models for airline network planning and scheduling including demand, traffic and revenue forecasting, fleet optimization, and aircraft scheduling and routing by identifying the best models to use, leading the team responsible for developing and continuously improving them, and working with user groups to ensure they use the tools to their full potential. Up to 10% travel to United Airlines in Houston or to attend national or global conferences, approximately 5 trips per year, 2 or 3 days average duration. Must have a Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Quantitative Analysis, or related field and five years of experience in airline network planning or decision support, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Quantitative Analysis, or related field and seven years of experience in airline network planning or decision support. Also must have five years of experience with the following: design and development of schedule profitability forecasting and fleet/network optimization models; working with operational, financial, and marketing models in the airline industry; using operations research, modeling and optimization techniques and tools; setting up and leading cross-functional teams and projects; airline planning and scheduling; and designing analytical models for a global airline.
