Special Education
Description of the Position
Instructors/Lecturers (variable percent of time) in the Department of Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education for Spring 2018. These are part-time, term, non-tenure track positions for an off-campus program at the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake, IL.
Responsibilities of the Position
Teach courses at the undergraduate/graduate level in the Special Education program.
Qualifications/Requirements
The rank of Instructor requires an earned master’s degree in Special Education or a related field; the rank of Lecturer requires an earned doctorate in Special Education or a related field.
Applicants for either level must provide evidence in the following areas:
1. Broad background with an emphasis in Special Education
2. Teaching experience at the K-12 school level (classroom-based, consultant etc.)
3. Knowledge and experience related to one or more content areas listed below:
Introduction to Special Education; Methods and Materials for Teaching a Functional Curriculum; Assessment in special education, Behavior Management for Children and Youth with Disabilities; Legal Frameworks for Special Education; Collaboration.

Spring 2018 semester (January 1, 2018)

These are term appointments for Spring 2018 semester and contingent on available funds. The successful candidates may be re-appointed for future semesters contingent on programmatic needs, funding, and job performance.
