As Marketing Events Assistant, you will educate and entertain potential guests at off-site outreach events regarding institutional activities and conservation issues, as well as executing on-site events that further the mission of the Society, contributing to an exceptional guest experience, and increasing the visibility and exposure of the Society and Brookfield Zoo. You will serve as Society ambassador at weekend festivals and events inside and outside of the
zoo.
Since Brookfield Zoo opened its doors to the public in 1934, the Chicago Zoological Society has had a legacy of educating the public about animal care and conservation of the natural world. The Society inspires and engages children, students, teachers, and others among the general public to make a positive impact on the natural world around them. From protecting regional wilderness to creating environmental stewardship through zoo interactions and educational opportunities, from guiding future scientists to pioneering global conservation efforts, the Society sits at the apex of care for animals and their habitats.

The primary job duties and responsibilities include:
- Transport and set up/take down outreach booth and represent the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo at scheduled outreach events held throughout the Chicagoland metropolitan area. Responsible for learning and delivering a variety of information, materials and activities related to the Society and animals while maintaining a clean and branded appearance.
- Support Marketing's on-site and outreach events with day-of execution and preparation activities for park-wide events. Serve as a key on-site liaison for sponsor activations.
- Dress in costume and be animated as a Zoo character, while maintaining costume image. Greet Zoo guests and pose for pictures upon request.
- Support all Partnership Marketing revenue-generating programs including group sales, hotel partner program, ticketing programs, Tree Trim and sponsorships. Responsible for order processing, customer service, and fulfillment.
- Identify and research event-related partnerships, sponsorship, in-kind contributions and assist with timely contract execution/tracking, issuing of invoices, and supporting partnership marketing administrative duties.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Specifications
The requirements for this position include the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Strong verbal communication skills required.
- Must be able to work in a team and be flexible.
- Must be animated and outgoing.
- Strong organizational and project management skills required.
- Ability to interact with public and maintain a positive image at all times required.
- A valid driver's license is required on date of hire. If an Illinois resident, must possess a valid Illinois driver's license at the time of hire or must obtain one within 90 days of hire. A valid out-of-state driver's license is required at time of hire if the employee is an out-of-state resident.
- Some college with coursework towards a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication, Education, or Theater desired.
- Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.
