Senior Manager/Director - Electrical Engineering

Our company is a manufacturer of electro-mechanical products in the Chicago area and we are currently seeking a senior manager/ director level individual to focus on electronics aspects of our product lines.  We have strong markets in the US and globally which offers excellent growth potential.

Senior Manager/Director, Electrical Engineering

Direct the Hardware Engineering Organization responsible for developing complex electro-mechanical products.  Responsible for an organization of approximately 10-15 employees and contractors.  Will report to the R&D Product Development Vice President.

Responsible for driving Hardware development in alignment with Program objectives.  Understands and integrates multiple R&D disciplines to create comprehensive hardware solutions.   Drives the organization to meet development timelines while also meeting reliability and quality commitments.  Conceives, plans, executes and tracks the projects and resources to meet objectives.  Must accommodate unforeseen events with timely and sound risk assessments and contingency plans.  Will direct strategic efforts including continuous improvement, core technology development, and research and development for new and existing technologies and work closely with Mechanical and Software group leadership to coordinate development of systems that provide the company with significant competitive differentiation against competitive companies.  Will negotiate project outcomes and deliverables to meet the conflicting demands of quality; time; money and deadlines.  Coach and mentor team members across multiple diverse projects on performance and development needs.  Will draw on and utilize technical expertise from other sources within and outside of the company.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 10+ Years of electrical/electronics experience with 3+ years management experience required
  • Proven leader in developing and launching of complex electromechanical hardware
  • Proven track record of delivering complex engineering systems to market, on time
  • Proven leadership experience to manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Expertise in establishing the technology strategic plan, and driving staff to excellence in product development
  • Engineering degree required. Advanced education preferred
  • Less than 10% travel internationally and domestically
