Martin Lawrence Galleries is dedicated to presenting the great names and the best of the emerging artists for over 40 years. The gallery is located at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL.

Part time, minimum of 2 days a week, non-benefited position. Hands-on position requiring the packing/unpacking and storing of works of any size, configuration and weight. Must be comfortable installing a range of artwork. Capable of planning and implementing solutions to various logistical issues as they arise in the storage and transportation of art works.

Job Description:

• Installing and uninstalling exhibitions and collections management as instructed
• Receiving and preparing outgoing shipments
  • Unpack/unwrap incoming shipments as well as wrap, pack and label artwork for storage
  • Wrap and crate artworks for  outgoing shipments
• Detail oriented and able to report condition of artwork
• Completes paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail
• Properly hang artwork and exhibition related materials and comfortable handling high value works of art
  • Must be comfortable on a ladder and using basic power tools
• Highly organized and able to complete tasks independently and in a timely manner
• Demonstrates an appropriate degree of physical strength
• Demonstrates care and accuracy while performing job duties
• Performs all other job related duties as requested

Required:

• Must be flexible and able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Basic mathematic and measuring skills
• Previous experience working with small tools, mechanical and power
• High level of motivation
• Quick learner
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Basic computer skills: Word, Excel & Outlook
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms

Preferred:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of fine art and mediums, and proper art handling
• 2+ years of art handling experience
• Working knowledge of gallery lighting
• Previous experience working in a similar setting
