Sales Executive

RESPONSIBILITIES

Northern Illinois University, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the anticipated position of Sales Executive in the MBA Program. This office reports to the Dean and is a program within the College of Business at NIU. 

The Sales Executive primary function is to increase graduate applications for all MBA formats. The person in the Sales Executive role will promote Northern Illinois University’s MBA program to appropriate audiences in metro-Chicago and the Midwest, endorsing NIU as the MBA student’s school of choice. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of the MBA Program, the Sales Executive will produce contacts with individuals who are interested in pursuing an MBA as well as search out and initiate corporate contacts wherein NIU’s MBA can be marketed to employees. These functions will be performed with respect to all MBA formats. This position will require some night and weekend hours. 

Specific duties of this position include: 
A. Plan and develop personal sales strategy in the assigned market to generate new interest and inquiries. 
B. Serve as an admissions recruiter, responsible for identifying, contacting, and maintaining relationships with prospective students up to point of applying. 
C. Responsible for inquiry records and planning on-campus and off-campus recruiting events. 
D. Conducts business outreach, including but not limited to identifying corporations with employee tuition reimbursement benefits, networking events, sponsorships, professional association meetings, graduate recruiting fairs, and conferences. 
E. Cultivate relationships with corporations, ultimately allowing for in-house MBA information sessions, recruiting, or in-house MBA program. 
F. Prospect new target markets in which to promote the MBA program. 
G. Remain current on MBA industry trends and competitors. 
H. Demonstrate positive increase in MBA Inquiries and Applications. 
I. Other duties as assigned. 
 

REQUIRED SKILLS

A. Required: Sales experience relating to client prospecting and client development. Minimum 3 years’ experience. Or 2 to 5 years of experience in recruiting or a proven track record delivering University Recruiting or managing University Recruiting programs. 
B. Required: Demonstrated ability to work with people on a positive and professional basis. 
C. Required: Ability to relate and sell to all markets of the MBA Program. 
D. Required: Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, professional comportment, and ability to work individually and with a team. 
E. Required: Availability to work evenings and weekend. 
F. Required: Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (marketing, sales, communications); MBA from AACSB-accredited program preferred, Master degree or working toward graduate degree and managerial experience in a business setting. Experience working in University environment, preferably with MBA programs and international groups. Minimum 6 months experience. 
 

PREFERRED SKILLS

A. Experience in creating candidate pipelines with a proven track record of matriculation. 
B. Preferred: Knowledge of Salesforce.
