Dishwasher

We are looking for Dishwashers to join the Catering team to contribute to our execution of flawless events. This back of the house position efficiently washes and cleans all dishes and equipment with the highest of quality taking care to sort and store each item in their proper storage areas. Your ability to work at a fast pace and coordinate multiple projects is demonstrated while you properly operate the dishwasher, keep the dish areas clean, maintain the kitchen free of debris, and complete trash removal periodically throughout the day. All of these important activities are extremely significant in maintaining a high-quality experience for our over 2 million guests each year.

Position Requirements and Specifications
As Brookfield Zoo is open 365 days a year and events are scheduled during mornings, afternoons, evenings, holidays, and weekends, the Dishwasher position requires flexible availability to work non-standard hours. Catered Events employees may be scheduled to start as early as 6:30 a.m. and work as late as 2:00 a.m. and may be required to work a 10-hour day or longer. Work schedules consist mainly of Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, but may require some weekdays. Work schedules are based on the needs of the operation. This is a temporary (seasonal) position. Starting wage: $8.90 per hour.

The requirements for this position include:

  • High School graduate or equivalent combination of related training/experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple projects and activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must be prompt and reliable.
  • Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience. Multilingual ability and Spanish fluency a plus.
