Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis

United Airlines has an opening for a Manager – Financial Planning and Analysis in Chicago, IL.  Responsible for implementing and maintaining financial planning best practices, driving efficiencies through process improvements, and aligning reporting with division leadership needs.  Less than 5% travel, to visit or meet with teams in Houston, 1-2 trips per year. Must have a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field and 2 years of experience in financial planning and analysis supporting an IT organization.  Also must have experience with: closing, forecasting and budgeting financials including operating expenses, capital expenditures, and labor analysis, and reporting variances to senior leadership; using airline industry statistics including enplanements, onboard passengers, and Cost per Available Seat Miles (CASM) to build financial analysis models and forecast templates; performing financial and budget analysis involving technologies including faring service systems, mainframe, and passenger service systems (PSS) to improve processes, increase productivity, and continuously adapt financial reporting to changes in the IT industry; analyzing project expenditures and capitalizing labor to properly book balance sheet and income statement activities; building financial analysis models to calculate Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and payback periods; performing cost benefit analysis and labor outsourcing/offshoring analysis; and using Oracle ERP and BIEE, MS Access, and Hyperion to interpret data and trends to create dashboards and reports to present financial performance and make recommendations to senior leadership.
