JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Correctional Case Manager-Treatment is responsible for conducting the initial clinical assessments for clients seeking services in the Substance Abuse Program; assessing appropriate levels of care based on ASAM criteria and identification of appropriate services within and outside of the program.
- Conduct initial and follow-up assessment on assigned clients using the method, materials and criteria established by the organization and SAMSA
- Develop treatment plans that are appropriate to the needs of the individual.
- Based on assessment results, provide appropriate referral to other service providers inside and outside of Safer.
- Conduct group and one-on-one counseling sessions that promote sobriety and engage residents in real-world discussions regarding choices and consequences
- Meet weekly with assigned residents to make sure that they are actively engaged in appropriate program activities whether provided by Safer or other agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
- Knowledge of principles, methods and procedures for treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse
- Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics and societal trends and influences
- Knowledge of computer-based applications such as Microsoft Word
- Skilled in active listening and conveying information to others effectively
- Skilled in Social Perceptiveness (Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do
- Skilled in Critical Thinking, judgment and decision-making
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
- Bachelors Degree in a related discipline (counseling, psychology, criminal justice) with 2 years experience (preferably in a correctional setting.
- CADC preferred
