Assistant Manager, Marketing Events

As Assistant Manager, Marketing Events you will be responsible for managing efforts to provide an extraordinary guest experience and drive attendance through engaging and impactful onsite communications, programming, promotions and events. Making use of your prior related experience, you will manage and provide suggestions / recommendations regarding the development of new onsite programs and events and the enhancement of existing programs and events, including logistics planning, budgets, etc. You will also research, develop, and manage new business programs through fruition, including logistics planning, budgets, etc. As Assistant Manager, you will recruit, hire, train, and schedule Marketing Assistant seasonal employees for both external and internal events, coordinating with the Education and Volunteer departments, to support program execution. You will be responsible for the execution of assigned onsite programs, events, and promotions including coordinating with internal cross-functional groups/departments, external groups (talent, partners, radio stations, etc.) and seasonal staff. Drawing upon your creative writing skills, you will be responsible for the development and distribution of onsite communication materials (e.g., signage, gate handouts/publications, events calendar, coupons, etc.) working with the Creative Services Department, other staff, and vendors as appropriate, managing process and budget and ensuring timely delivery to marketplace. Furthermore, you will manage project documents including timelines, budgets, performance tracking, etc., disseminate information to internal cross-functional groups; and be responsible for the coordination of staff to provide in-park costume character needed.

Position Requirements and Specifications
The requirements for the position include the following:



  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience required.


  • Minimum of two years of experience in marketing, events, promotions or other related area or field required.


  • Strong communications and creative writing skills required.


  • Strong computer skills required. Knowledge of a variety of software applications (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Windows 95).


  • Prior budget experience required.


  • Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, amiable personality. Ability to interact professionally and effectively and maintain positive relationships with staff, outside vendors, suppliers, media, and others.


  • Must be persistent, helpful, and able to deal with multiple issues at one time.


  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills.


  • Must be self-motivated, flexible, and confident, possess a high level of energy, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.


  • Valid driver's license required. Illinois residents must possess a valid Illinois license within 90 days of hire. Valid out-of-state license required for out-of-state residents.


  • Position requires weekends, evenings, early mornings, and travel to site locations as needed.

The preferred qualifications include:



  • Experience with Raiser's Edge software a plus.


  • Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.
