Maintenance Mechanic

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic maintains and repairs all Company vehicles, equipment and tooling within the assigned facility.

This position requires 12 hour shifts (7pm to 7am) and works 3 days on/3 days off, then 4 days on/4 days off.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Performs preventative maintenance, conducts inspections, troubleshoots, diagnoses failures & deficiencies & performs necessary corrections. This includes conducting offsite road repairs/service calls.
• Completes and maintains all service, parts/inventory records in a timely & accurate manner.
• Completes daily checklist as required for proper operation of the unit being operated.
• Assures unit has daily maintenance duties performed and communicates any problems or issues with the unit immediately upon discovery.
• Assures unit is never operated when been tagged Out of Service (removes keys).
• Reviews all applicable SOPs, scores satisfactorily on quizzes and conducts all mandatory Company and job specific training.
• Completes and submits all associated paperwork as required for tracking PM schedules.
• Conducts Safety Checks & Annual Vehicle Inspections in accordance to provincial & federal laws.
• Assures that Equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements.
• Fabricating, welding, modifications etc. / pump & piping installs/trailer modifications.
• Ensures that work meets all applicable Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensures, understands and has ownership for area specific permit required compliance standards.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment.
• Performs other assignments as assigned by management.
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years experience in a shop environment and experience working as a Mechanic on and/or around Heavy Duty equipment and repairs
• Experience working on boilers, pumps,  and vacuum pumps
• State or local license requirements
• Demonstrates complete proficiency in diagnostic, repair and maintenance of one of the following units: backhoe, heavy duty crane, heavy duty forklift, trackhoe, excavator, roll off truck, forklifts, pick up trucks, box trucks, tractors, and tankers.
• Demonstrates complete proficiency in tooling and equipment diagnostic, repair and maintenance.
• Must be versed in all aspects e.g. electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, engines etc.
• Valid 310T truck & coach license (310S would be considered).
• DOT training.
• First Aid.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires speaking, listening, and acuity
• Requires sitting, standing, grasping, and reaching
• Requires walking, stooping, and crouching
• Requires lifting, pulling, pushing, or carrying up to 15 lbs
