Assistant Critical Infrastructure Manager

Position Objective:

The Assistant Critical Infrastructure Manager is a part of the Data Center Operations Team within DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT). The Assistant Critical Infrastructure Manager shall report to the Critical Infrastructure Manager and be fully engaged in the day-to-day operations of a large scale Data Center electrical plant, while ensuring the highest levels of reliability and availability are maintained.

Responsibilities – Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Possess a working knowledge of large scale Data Centers, including state-of-the-art electrical distribution systems, static and rotary UPS, emergency standby generation, fire alarm/suppression and security infrastructures
  • Possess a moderate understanding of building monitoring systems that assist in the operation and management of the electrical distribution infrastructure
  • Schedule, coordinate and participate in all significant planned and emergency maintenance for the facility
  • Shall ensure all maintenance for the facility is executed in a controlled and proven a method that ensures uninterrupted integrity of the critical loads supported by these systems
  • Executing operating and maintenance strategies to ensure continuous availability of all critical systems
  • Primary responsibility for developing and maintaining the annual schedule for the preventative maintenance activities for the electrical infrastructure
  • Managing preventative and predictive maintenance programs for critical equipment
  • Coordinating and inspecting services performed by outsourced vendors
  • Assist the VP, Critical Infrastructure Manager in managing costs and annual budgets associated with the Critical Infrastructure Department and associated operations
  • Ensures diligent adherence to policies and proven processes
  • Development of best practices
  • Executing assignments as directed by the VP, Critical Infrastructure Manager
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for innovation
  • Establishing and cultivating relationships with key contacts internally and externally

Travel: Travel to sites, client meetings, trainings or conferences as requested and required. Must carry a radio-phone and pager at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Technology Degree or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in operations and maintenance in a high reliability Data Center environment
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite applications, preferably Microsoft Excel, Project, Visio or AutoCad
  • Proven written communication skills and technical writing skills
  • Complex problem solving using analysis, technical and organizational expertise
  • Identify industry trends and articulate implications that will have an impact on the Data Center operation
  • Provides feedback to the VP, Critical Infrastructure Manager to ensure all activities and deliverables meet expectations
  • Identifies opportunities to increase efficiency
  • Demonstrates DFT’s vision, values and principles
  • Extended hours may be significant at times
  • Strong written and verbal command of the English language
  • Ability and willingness to respond to emails after hours in the event of an emergency
  • Responsible attitude with strong work ethic; leading by example in attendance, attitude and technical work product
