The Mentoring Coordinator/Financial Coach for the Training to Work program is responsible for oversight of the recruiting, interviewing, training and scheduling of mentors working with the assigned residents. Coordinator/Coach is, also, responsible for assisting Training to Work participants with financial counseling and in resolving current financial situations, while providing an awareness of their financial health.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Proactively participating in a variety of collective programming including the orientation of new residents, selection and recruitment of mentors into the program
- Leads and directs the work of mentors, ensuring that all program participants are matched with a mentor.
- Ensures that the activities of the mentors meet the needs of the program participants.
- Coordinates bi-monthly mentoring activities and monthly reporting.
- Develops and conducts financial education classes.
- Works directly with Safer Foundation’s Financial Opportunity Center to ensure programming that aids participants in reaching their educational, financial and asset goals.
- Monitors program participant performance at onsite financial education classes, ensuring that all participants attend.
- Enters program participant information in agency’s database
- Participates in staff training
- Work with clients to complete a very detailed financial assessment
- Develop plans of actions and provide tools, resources, and accountability to the client to help them meet their financial goals
- Understand other services offered by the agency, such as employment services and income supports counseling, and connect the clients to these other services
- Track the stories and successes of program participants
- Completing Combined Financial Assessment (CFA) for Training to Work clients
- Conduct workshops as a means of outreach and education
- Develop relationships with local financial institutions and community organizations
- Create a network of referral organizations to help you assist the client meet his goals (e.g. local housing counseling agency, legal aid, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Skilled in writing accurate and detailed case notes in agency’s database
- Good facilitation, interpersonal, and communications skills
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
- Bachelor’s degree
