Purchasing Manager

Reporting to company ownership, you will be responsible for managing purchasing activities for Oak Mill Bakery. 

 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities: 


Assist Oak Mill management with product procurement to ensure an uninterrupted/continuous supply of all items and timely deletion when necessary. 

 

This includes the following: 

  • Contract negotiation with all vendors
  • Handle any product issues and provide appropriate resolutions in a reasonable timeframe
  • Identify cost-reducing opportunities
  • Work in conjunction with the management to arrange for any new items that are needed
  • Promote highly positive vendor relationships 
  • Forecast future needs
  • Able to research new products / vendors

 

Manage costing to include: 

  • Maintain Master Vendor Contract File / Keep vendor contact info up-to-date
  • Create and maintain monthly contracted cost report
  • Create and present monthly price verification report
  • Manage recoups and credits between distributors and accounting department

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Create communication bridge between all departments

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years food purchasing experience desired
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office (specifically Outlook & Excel)
  • Broad knowledge of distribution
  • Capability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to anticipate needs arising from operations, distributors, vendors, colleagues; perform preventative maintenance
  • Ability to confidently execute day to day functions and to promote a problem solving, “can-do” environment
  • Proficiency in adapting to changing priorities or ambiguity without frustration
  • Must be able to  multi-task and prioritize with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Drive for results and success; convey a sense of urgency
