Field Mechanic
M.J. Electric, LLC, a Quanta Services Company, is seeking a highly qualified, self motivated Field Mechanic to join our growing business. We have multiple openings at our St. Charles, IL location. Position is responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs all types of heavy equipment, trailers and vehicles engaged in electrical utility construction and maintenance projects (substation, overhead transmission and overhead distribution)throughout the midwest. The Field Mechanic will work closely with the Project Manager, General Foreman, Project Superintendent and craft personnel to ensure all equipment is maintained and repaired in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems and air tools
Annual D.O.T. & crane Inspections
Replace and repair damaged components
Perform vehicle preventative maintenance
Extensive Travel Required
Qualifications:
Extensive (5-8 years) experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled and tracked) or trucks
Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams
Strong welding (MIG /TIG) and fabrication skills
Must possess a valid class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
Basic understanding of DOT Regulations
Good organizational and recordkeeping skills
Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout a geographical area
Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment
Customer service skills
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years heavy equipment mechanical/maintenance experience
