General Summary

This position initiates and tracks pre-authorization and pre-certification for all outpatients in PT/OT/Speech/Audiology. Responsible for tracking and re-verifying all authorizations. Has primary responsibility for communication with payors and families regarding authorization, certification, reauthorization and denials. Assists staff and families with the authorization process. Provides information to families regarding authorization and certification matters. Recommends alternatives when there are insufficient financial resources.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High school diploma is required.Two years of college preferred (business or healthcare course work).

Two years of business office experience in a hospital or physician office setting withpatient registration, insurance benefit verification, and financial counseling experience is required.

Knowledge of medical terminology, managed care requirements, and government agency regulations.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients and third party payers is essential.

Bilingual language skills helpful.
