Manager Advanced Practice Nurse; Outpatient Services
General Summary of Position Responsibility: Works with a multidisciplinary clinical team in outpatient services to provide evidence based patient care and patient/family education. Manages the daily operations of the unit and serves as the liaison for various inter and intra departmental personnel matters. Provides support to the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) and nursing staff promoting the advancement of the nursing profession. Provides staff development opportunities for APN staff; evaluates individual performance planning and improvement. Area Specific Job Accountabilities:
- Leads clinical operations and provides administrative and clinical leadership to provide expert care in the outpatient areas including but not limited to Allergy, Immunology, Pulmonary, Plastic Surgery, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Special Infectious Disease, and Psychiatry Departments at Children’s Memorial Hospital.
- Works with Advanced Practice nursing staff to plan and provide essential coverage for daily operations. Ensures for the provision of efficient and effective high-quality patient care in the above noted departments.
- Manages and monitors APN performance planning and improvement process.
- Facilitates and coordinates the development of department protocols/policies and guidelines for the continuity of care amongst the specialty/areas.
- Facilitates a consistent orientation process and documentation of achievements amongst new hires and experienced staff.
- Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing; APN required, NP certification required.
- Three years of clinical experience.
- Licensure to practice in the State of Illinois required.
- Working knowledge of current AAP guidelines for preventive care of children.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills in order to address patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills to manage complex processes and relationships in an evolving role while working with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to advance knowledge base through self-directed learning to maintain competency in the leadership role.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance expectations and standards.
- Excellent communication skills.
