Audiology Clinical Assistant

General Summary of Position Responsibility:

The Audiology Clinical Assistant works with the audiologists in the comprehensive care of patients with hearing disorders. Under supervision of an audiologist, the audiology clinical assistant provides technical services required in the course of diagnostic evaluation and treatment of audiology patient.Assists clinical audiologists with two-tester audiological evaluations by helping the child complete the hearing testing and providing information to the audiologist to help interpret patient responses to sound.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High School Diploma required; college courseworkpreferred.

Previous Audiological experience or related coursework preferred.

Completion of I-tech" (Cochlear Implant technician) certification training within first year.

Ability to operate a personal computer and standard office equipment, such as photocopy machine, facsimile machine, calculator, etc. Proficient with Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access required.

Must be able to accept instruction and guidance and be capable of following a structured work routine. Ability to follow verbal and written directives with detail.

Must be able to learn and master the procedures and techniques necessary to assist with audiological procedures.

Effective and strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, verbal and in writing. Ability to effectively communicate with Hospital/department staff, patients, parents, and community personnel.

Must have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills to effectively manage priorities of multiple team members. Strong planning and coordination skills.

Ability to provide high level of customer service to patients, department staff, management and external customers.

Ability to work independently and exercise good and professional judgment.

Bilingual skills a plus.
