Project Manager CLOCC

Position Summary:

The major responsibilities are to lead the development and implementation of community-based obesity prevention strategies and manage community-based interventions. Strategies and interventions will focus on improving food access and environmental conditions to support healthy eating and physical activity in Chicago. This will be achieved through the management and oversight of CLOCC's team of Community Networkers, effective interaction with the rest of CLOCC's management team, and coordination with management teams at partner organizations. In managing these aspects of the CLOCC program, the Project Manager will track financial expenditures related to these projects, oversee the work of volunteers and temporary student assistants, represent the program to community partners and other external organizations, collaborate on partner projects, and assist with the development of project proposals and stewardship reports.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage a team of Community Networkers to implement community-based obesity prevention strategies.
  • Assist community partners in developing and implementing environmental change approaches (including designing and delivering training, overseeing sub-contractor relationships).
  • Serve as the primary CLOCC liaison to community-based coalitions and community partners, providing management assistance as needed.
  • Represent CLOCC at city, regional, and national events related to community aspects of CLOCC's work, as assigned by the Directors. Conduct presentations for community partners.
  • Provide stewardship of funds as assigned by the Directors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Five or more years experience project leadership, including staff supervision.
  • Background in community organizing, environmental approaches in public health, or similar community-based strategy development.
  • Excellent skills in reflective listening, group facilitation, and conflict resolution required.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication and record-keeping skills required.
  • Strong working knowledge and skills in Microsoft computer software applications and database technologies.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, in collaboration with groups and individuals from all walks of life and social strata.
  • Organizational skills: Ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations. Flexibility is required, balanced with meeting established timelines and goals.
  • Master's degree in a health or administration field preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Public speaking experience preferred.
