MRI Patient Flow Coordinator
Coordinates services with the multi-disciplinary team to provide care to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) patient population and oversee patient flow for the MRI suites. Promotes and facilitates optimal care and works with a diverse group of individuals including families, physicians, nurses and other hospital staff.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinates scheduling for both inpatients and outpatients; reviews upcoming schedules.
- Completes protocol screening forms in a timely fashion.
- Works with point of service representatives and pre-screen nurses to schedule urgent requests.
- Reviews general anesthesia schedule in advance with Outpatient Surgery pre-screening nurse to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Coordinates scheduling with other modalities and departments as needed (i.e. Anesthesia, CT, IR, procedure suite)
- Coordinates patient flow through MRI. This includes working with radiologists and referring physicians in prioritizing patients based on urgency, diagnosis or any other issues.
- Works closely with MRI manager to coordinate personnel resources to ensure efficient workflow for each room. Communicates effectively with manager of MRI and nursing work groups.
- Functions as liaison with referring services i.e. Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Hem/Onc.
- Establishes and maintains rapport, promotes collaborative communication among a group of diverse health care providers, also maintains an effective working relationship with these individuals.
- Works with MRI manager to provide recommendations and assistance to families and physicians both within and outside of the institution.
- Acts as a resource to hospital personnel with regard to care and coordination of services for patients.
Requirements:
Education - Graduate of accredited program in radiologic technology.
Maintain active ARRT certification in MRI.
Minimum of three (3) years of MRI, or pertinent healthcare, experience. Experience working in partnership with health care professionals and support staffing a clinical setting is necessary.
Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to problem-solve and support teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.
Computer skills required - must maintain competence working in an electronic medical record driven system, basic Microsoft Office skills, PACS system knowledge.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
