General Summary of Position Responsibility:

The IT Software Engineer SR is responsible for the creation of advanced or custom technology solutions that may span or replace the standard offerings from IT vendors.utililize skills in traditional software development tools, primarily in Microsoft .Net environment, and technology change management related to the programming and development of web and other key IT components. In addition, this position requires the individual to have a master level understanding of all assigned server, network, and application technologies and to assume responsibility for the successful completion of complex project tasks.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Develops and manages complex software and technology projects related to network and server technologies, e.g. Citrix/Portal, Epic My Chart and/or other web or ecommerce technology.
2. Designs, implements, and maintains server and client systems (computer hardware, operating systems and network technologies).
3. Develop custom programming solutions as required to ensure that end user and IM Department goals are met in the the areas of Microsoft Windows, HP-UX Unix, or other operating system types for network, server, and client technology, application related technology support whether primarily or via vendor management,Myriad health care vendor applications for clinical and business needs: e.g. Epic EMR, Lawson Financials.
4. Performs application server/client component integration and on-going maintenance tasks in support of the Epic EMR and other hosted applications.
5. Mentors more junior technical staff and/or IM Applications and other IM team members.
6. Completes assigned Help Desk support tickets within IM Department standards.
7. Serves as liaison to vendors for equipment and software maintenance.Develops and documents procedures covering all aspects of enterprise-wide client/server administration.
8. Monitors and report on performance for all assigned servers, applications, and technologies Performs ongoing capacity and performance planning for all assigned servers, applications, and technologies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Successful candidate will have 5 years' experience with both server and programming skills in a Microsoft .Net environment.

This position entails support of the Epic MyChart web application, custom development of web sites and forms for clinical research needs, and support of internal corporate web sites and applications. Note that the custom web development tasks for this role are not the sole or majority focus of this position.

A firm knowledge of web security standards and solid experience in secure programming and secure web server configuration techniques for public and internal websites is required.

Experience is required with the support of the Microsoft Server 2003 and 2008, IIS, and other web application and technology.

Good skills and experience are also required with working on or managing large project teams, service ticket management, and the documentation of technical processes.

Past or current experience in a healthcare IT environment is a plus.
