Strategy Manager

POSITION TITLE: Manager, Strategic Growth

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
This highly visible position will have responsibility for leading and managing multiple strategic and business development initiatives to advance the company's strategic objectives, including becoming a more customer-focused company and formidable player in life insurance, while continuing to drive profitable growth.
The responsibilities for the Strategy Manager may include, but will not be limited to the following:
  • Annual strategic and/or operating planning process;
  • Business unit and area-of-responsibility (i.e., functional) strategic inquiries;
  • Strategic issues identification and assessment;
  • Business development (e.g., new products, channels or markets);
  • Identification and analysis of strategic acquisitions and alliances - with some ongoing implementation accountability;
  • Business intelligence, competitive tracking, and benchmarking;

Qualification

BACKGROUND REQUIRED:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of four years of professional experience. More specifically, the ideal candidate will have experience at a world-class financial services company or management consulting firm and will have prior experience encompassing the responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge and expertise should include:
  • Strategic Planning. Advanced strategic planning skills and relevant experience developing integrated planning processes; hands-on experience developing strategic, financial and business plans;
  • Strategic Methodologies. Experience with strategic planning, change management, benchmarking, six sigma methodology, re-engineering, financial modeling and/or best practices in financial services;
  • Business Development. Demonstrated experience identifying, evaluating and implementing new business ventures;
  • Problem-Solving. Advanced problem-solving skills: actively participating in brainstorming, identifying core issues, structuring problems, effectively finding and using data, and independently manages complex analysis;
  • Management and Planning. Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams with limited direct line responsibility, and exceptional project management skills;
  • Client Service. Proactively reaches out to help internal client organizations. Understands implications of the client situation to improve organizational effectiveness; develops solid and enduring relations with clients, as a trusted advisor;
  • Industry Knowledge. Extensive knowledge of financial services products, channels, consumer trends and industry/competitive dynamics; ability to glean marketplace insights to inform strategic direction and operating plans;
  • Technology Knowledge. Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree. Additionally, applicable professional designations are considered a plus (i.e., MBA, CPA, CFA, etc.).
