PROJECT MANAGER - PROFESSIONAL
Experienced, Professional-Level Opportunity
This PROJECT MANAGER - PROFESSIONAL position is an experienced, professional-level role within Allstate Insurance. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing overall pursuit and/or project delivery including scope, timelines, resources, budget, risks and issues, relationships and communication.
This position is based within our Protection Technology group-the largest of four Allstate IT centers that designs and deploys advanced technology for the #1 publicly traded property and casualty insurance carrier in the U.S.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Planning lower-level complexity projects independently and developing budget, timeline and resource plans.
- Managing projects to ensure on-time delivery and within budget.
- Making project-staffing recommendations that include skill-set identification, resource requirements and tracking utilization.
- Setting project goals and objectives, guiding and supporting team members, and providing project performance feedback to managers.
- Monitoring and tracking project budget, scope and timeline.
- Assessing risks and creating mitigation strategies throughout the project life cycle.
- Developing positive relationships and managing communications with project, pursuit and/or interfacing teams.
- Developing and leveraging technical, functional and/or business knowledge to support client/user solutions.
- Creating project communication plans for project delivery, status and metrics.

Qualification
The successful candidate should exhibit the following skills and abilities:
- Project Leadership - Sets the example in challenging and difficult project situations and demonstrates different leadership styles, as situations require.
- Project Communications - Fundamental project communications proficiency in practical and moderately difficult situations.
- Scope Control and Change Management - Ability to prepare change procedures/budget for a medium size project and that all the project team adheres to change standards.
- Project Planning - Demonstrates ability to break down work into manageable and measurable units, estimating time/costs appropriate to the stage of a medium size project.
- Project Quality Assurance - Participated in establishing, communicating and monitoring standards for quality and excellence.
- Project Issues Management - Fundamental proficiency to demonstrate issues management in practical and moderately difficult situations.
- Project Estimating - Estimates time and costs for medium-size projects, including contingencies and risks.
- Internal Consulting - Skilled at interacting directly with clients from problem definition through implementation and demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between the business and consulting tasks.
- Project Control/Implementation - Demonstrates ability to take action, mobilize resources to solve problems and control medium size projects.
Experience required
- 4+ years of project manager experience required
- Strong relationship building and team leadership skills.
- Ability to negotiate with business and technology teams for optimal solutions
- Strong communication skills
Computer proficiency
Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Certification
Bachelor's Degree preferred
PMP certification a plus
