Application Specialist - Pathology Lab

General Summary of Position Responsibility:

Supports information management needs of various client departments or processes across the organization through project coordination, applications implementation, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance or enhancements.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Provides application implementation support, technical guidance, and serve as primary resolution point for all issues regarding assigned applications.

2. Works collaboratively with end-users to understand processes and develop system support.

3. Coordinates activities of assigned projects or particular phases of a given project. Develop detailed work plans, timelines; identify appropriate resources needed and provide timely status reports. Creates and maintains appropriate documentation.

4. Provides data transfer, access and manipulation of aggregate and comparative data..

5. Provides assistance with system selection, system maintenance/upgrade and implementation, including system definition, build, testing and conversion planning and interfaces.

6. Creates and modify queries as requested by users. Develops and monitor testing scenarios and methodology to demonstrate system effectiveness. Prepares and maintains documentation on testing plans.

7. Participates in completion of user documentation and training procedures. Evaluates system utilization and performance. Participate in system optimization. Adheres to HIPAA regulations for Transactions, Security and Confidentiality

FTE status: FT-80

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology or Health Care field with related training is required.
  2. Minimum two years of experience installing/supporting applications. Experience in a healthcare related field preferred.
  3. Certification, if applicable for assigned applications. For Epic applications, current Epic certification required or ability tocertify within 6 months of employment.
  4. Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills. Ability to articulate facts and ideas clearly and concisely.
  5. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, excellent project management skills.
  6. Ability to prepare documentation to support established objectives consistent with generally recognized standards.
  7. Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Windows OS and applications.
  8. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and works effectively with minimal direction and supervision.
  9. Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality relating to employee/patient and hospital.
  • Previous experience as an application analyst with Sunquest or CoPath. Experience with Epic orders a huge plus.
  • Previous experience working in a lab/pathology environment as an application analyst or lab technician.
