Assistant Director-Grants & Contracts (Pre Award)
Reports to the Director, Office of Sponsored Programs and is responsible for assisting the Principal Investigators, CMRC Board, the Chief Administrative Officer, and the President and Scientific Director by providing project development assistance including funding searches and the development of a faculty interest database, conducting budget and proposal preparation and review, managing the information dissemination process and assisting the Director, Office of Sponsored Programs with other pre-award activities and post award activities as well as general departmental administration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Interprets and advises Principal Investigators (PIs) and CMH staff on Federal, State and institutional policies, procedures, guidelines, and deadlines on a daily basis. Monitors compliance of PIs with various compliance committee actions and procedures. Advises Director, OSP of any non-compliance as they relate to compliance committees.
- Develops budgets for proposals and provides pre-award proposal development support to researchers and physicians; interprets sponsor guidelines. Assists in manages proposal database; verifies proposal data is correct. Prepares and disseminates reports on proposal and award activity.
- Identifies and disseminates funding source information to researchers and physicians which match their interests.
- Assists Principal Investigators and CMH staff in the administration of internal and external requirements of grants and contracts. Assists Principal Investigators in managing external grants and contract, planning and carrying out research programs and goals to assure compatibility with available resources. Assists Director with extracting information from Lawson Accounting system. This includes assisting Principal Investigators and their staff with questions related to sponsored funds.
- Serve as back up for processing awards to CMH Office of Sponsored Program Accounting for award set up.
FTE status: FT-80
Requirements
- Education: Assistant Director-High School completion and some post-secondary education required, Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred and equivalent experience in research administration
- Job Related Experience: Five to Seven years administrative experience required in research administration, preferably in a scientific setting.
- Skills/Knowledge: Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Familiarity with web based software helpful. Ability to work independently handles multiple tasks, set priorities and manages deadlines in a pleasant and professional manner. Associate Director-Interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership to personnel, to a variety of internal and external contacts and to interact effectively with physicians, PI's and other medical center personnel.
- Physical Demands: While most of the work is sedentary, specific duties will involve going to other campus buildings.
